"Australia Day" (the play)

Synchronicity would like to announce that its June 2018 production will be the Two Act comedy Australia Day by Jonathan Biggins. Australia Day was a joint production between Melbourne Theatre Company and Sydney Theatre in 2012.

Set in a fictional northern NSW town, the play explores how a committee prepares for Australia Day celebrations. Between the local mayor vying for Liberal pre-selection; a member of the CWA; a Greens councillor; a 1st generation Australian and the local builder - there are bound to be differences of opinion!

Mayor: Item six. The sausage sizzle.

Greens Councillor: I was thinking that a sausage sizzle is a bit mono-cultural.

Builder: Mono-what?

Greens Councillor: Are we reflecting the cultural diversity of the shire?

Builder: What's more Australian than snags on a barbecue? You think in China on Chairman bloody Mao Day they serve up pavlova?
